 ELA Technology Standards

LAFS.6.RI.3.7 says I need to make sure students need to show information through different kinds of media. This means they not only need to use words in their assignments. I will have to come up with assignments where they can only use numbers or only use images to show what they know. They could draw their own images or they could find images from Google for their assignments.

CPALMS Educator Toolkit

VA.68.F.1.3 says to play around with technology and explain how it can affect art. As a teacher, I have to make sure my students know how to use certain applications of technology. They will have to use certain websites and resources to make and edit art. Then, they will need to explain how the technology affects how art can evolve.

Internet Searching

As a teacher, it is important to be good at internet searching because teachers has to find new resources everyday. When a teacher wants to find a picture or chart to explain a topic, they have to use the right keywords to search on the internet to find what they want. When a teacher wants to find a certain worksheet they could buy and print out, they have to use the right keywords to find that also. It is all about knowing how the search engine works and knowing what will come up when typing certain words.

  Copyright and Fair Use Since I am planning on becoming a teacher for elementary students, I don't think they should stress out about copyright at that age yet. As a teacher, I would try to find worksheets that were available online, of course I would pay for them if I needed to. If I was teacher that was teaching adults, I would introduce them into using Creative Commons more often so they could have their works copyrighted. For students, they think they are just making a piece of work only for their teacher to grade it, so they don't care about their own work usually. I have used Microsoft Word since my 8th grade elective class where we got experience using Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel. Similar to how the user interface on Apple products are easier to work with than Android products, I think Google Docs is more intuitive. While Microsoft Word has more tools, the amount of things on one screen can make it hard to deal with. Google Docs is more simplified, I like how it looks and it is easier to find previously made documents. When teachers forced me to use Microsoft Word to upload, I would always type it all in Google Docs and then copy it into a word document. The 2.5 Designer standard is most meaningful to me. Students have different difficulties when it comes to learning and some might need more accommodation than others. Teacher Pages You will usually see the teacher's email so that parents and students can easily reach the teacher. Some teachers give out their number on the page in case of emergencies or if they are extra friendly and don't mind calling outside of school. You might see the teacher's experience, their degrees and how long they have been teaching. It will also show what classes that teacher teaches and the grade that they teach. https://faculty.fsu.edu/ Canvas Group Tool I think the canvas group tool is the hardest part of canvas to understand. It is in different places on mobile vs your computer. It doesn't show if you have new notifications on it from people in your group talking, and no one checks it when we are trying to discuss. Every time a teacher puts us in canvas groups, we always give each other our phone numbers since it is easier to interact through texting.
